Penélope is sometimes a man, sometimes a woman; sometimes an island, sometimes an anchor. Penélope weaves and unweaves her bonds, hides behind a loom that denies and longs for the arrival of Odysseus. Penélope remembers childhood and speaks of affection, speaks of loss, speaks of fear, speaks of trauma.
Penélope is a contemporary dance theatre piece that seeks a scenic approach to the psychological theory of attachment. It arises from the need, increasingly present in our society, to understand the conformation and development of the affective links that human beings establish for survival.
