Virxinia, unha muller espida

Synopsis

A reflection on the aesthetic violence suffered by contemporary Western women and its psycho-emotional consequences.

Virxinia, unha muller espida is an associative postdramatic piece in which we work with the language of contemporary dance and performance.

It arises from the question of what psychosocial and aesthetic implications responding to the noun woman has in our contemporary Western society, and how these implications affect our daily lives, our ways of expressing ourselves, behaving, and conceiving who we are.

We therefore aim to approach the connotations traditionally associated with femininity and to carry out an analysis of the aesthetic violence exerted on women’s bodies and their identity.

The main themes highlighted by the dramaturgy are:

  • The treatment of the female body as an object of desire, sexualized and objectified.
  • The female body in fashion and advertising.
  • Social pressure and judgment through the gaze of others and one’s own gaze.
  • The aesthetic canon.
